The series of
change or growth maps below from NAEP 2007 Writing display how each
Idaho demographic group in 2007 (i.e., all, male, female, White and
Hispanic) compared to its Idaho counterpart in 2002. Each state
is compared only with its own earlier performance. Comparisons of average scale
scores are based
on statistical tests (.05 level) that consider magnitude of
differences and standard error. Idaho (and other states) coded in green had a
higher average scale score in 2007 than it had in 2002 (i.e.,
a gain). A state in yellow had a 2007
average scale score that was not significantly different from
its 2002 score. A state coded in red had a lower average scale score
in 2007 than in 2002 (i.e., a drop).
