The Idaho State Board of Education will meet August 14-15, 2003 beginning at 8:00 A.M. (MST) in Room 541 of the Alexander Creek Building.

On August 14, 2003, the Board will:
Review the list of proposed peer institutions for the four-year institutions, including the rationale for choosing the peers.
Hear presentations about the placement of a health care education building in Idaho Falls.
Consider proposed rules related to Teacher Certification, accountability and miscellaneous rules.
Consider reappointments to the Idaho State Library Board of Trustees and the Higher Education Research Council.
Discuss approval of FY2005 Operating, Enhancement and Capital Budget Requests for the institutions, agencies and special projects as developed by the State of Idaho Budget Development Manual Guidelines and Board policy.
Have a first reading of Section V.R. Student Fees. At the June 2003 meeting, the Board voted to set student fees annually in January. Section V.R. needs to be changed to reflect the new timeline and criteria for setting student fees.
Consider approval of a new graduate program in Philosophy at the University of Idaho and a new undergraduate program in Nursing at Idaho State University.
Have a final reading of Section III.Z. Planning & Coordination of Instructional Programs and Courses.
Hear a report from the public charter schools subcommittee and have a first reading of Section I.N. Charter Schools
Hear an update on Assessment and Accountability, including:The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) ComplianceDiscuss a Transition Plan for Idaho's MOST
Idaho Standard Achievement Test (ISAT) results

Hold a Charter School Appeal Hearing
