The Idaho State Board of Education will meet October 2-3, 2003 beginning at 10:00 A.M. Thursday and 8:00 A.M. (MST) in the Williams Conference Center at Lewis Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho.

At the meeting, the Board will:
Hear a progress report on LCSC's strategic plan from Dene Thomas, President, Lewis-Clark State College.
Hear a presentation from Steve Guerber, Director, Idaho State Historical Society, on proposed legislation. The ISHPACE Act would identify and support projects related to historic and cultural preservation, interpretation and education, and offer a means for funding the state's largest and most challenging preservation project - the restoration and renovation of the Idaho State Capitol Building.
Have a final reading of Section V.R. Student Fees. At the June 2003 meeting, the Board voted to set student fees annually in January. Section V.R. needs to be changed to reflect the new timeline and criteria for setting student fees.
Hear an update on the status of the University of Idaho Presidential Search.
Hear an update on the FY05 MCO Operating Budget Request and on the FY05 Enhancement Budget Requests from the Historical Society.
Consider approval of a new doctorate program in Audiology at Idaho State University and a new undergraduate program in Wildland Fire Management at Boise State University.
Hear a report from the Accountability Committee discussions, findings and recommendations related to the remaining federal components of the State Accountability Plan and the state graduation requirement.
Hear a discussion of the Idaho Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) process and a review of the alignment study findings to clarify their meanings and implications to the state accountability process.
Discuss the Charter School Appeal of the Nampa II Charter School and make findings of fact and conclusions of law. At its August 15, 2003 meeting, the Board heard the appeal of the Nampa II Charter School.
