The Idaho State Board of Education will hold a special meeting via teleconference on Tuesday, November 4, 2003. Those wishing to come to the teleconference location in Boise may come to the Len B. The Board will consider for a second time proposed rules on the following topics:
Rules Governing Thoroughness (Accountability) -A phased in approach to the high school exiting requirements will also be discussed.
Changes to teacher certification rules, including alternative routes to certification and the code of ethics.
Temporary proposed rules regarding Charter Schools will also be considered. The temporary rule, if approved, provides the Board with an avenue in which to address multiple issues that have been identified during its ongoing review of charter schools. These issues include consistency in the authorization process, enrollment and limiting the liability of local districts.
If approved, these rules will be forwarded to the 2004 session of the Legislature for final approval.
