GOODING -- The Idaho School for the Deaf and the Blind is pleased to announce that Lewis McLin will serve as principal for the remainder of the current school year.
McLin has an extensive career in public education, specific experience in deaf education, and a long association with ISDB. His son is a 2001 graduate of the ISDB Residential Campus and he has previously lived in the community and been very active in both ISDB and community affairs as both an educator and a parent of a deaf child.
Lewis holds a master's degree in elementary education from Boise State University and is certified as both a K-12 principal and a superintendent of schools in both Idaho and Alaska. He is also board certified in a broad range of academic areas as well as driver's education, physical education and counseling.
McLin retired from the school system in Alaska where he was principal of an elementary school in the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District in Homer, Alaska. Upon returning to Idaho, he served as the superintendent for the Horseshoe Bend School District for four years. He then retired to McCall, Idaho.
"We are indeed fortunate to have a principal with his extensive background, experience and personal connection to the community and blind and deaf education. He will be an invaluable asset to the Idaho School of the Deaf and Blind. Lewis will also assist the school in searching for a permanent replacement principal," said Harv Lyter, acting superintendent.
