BOISE – The Board will conduct its annual review of university and college president contracts and discuss Local Education Agency (LEA) status for the Idaho Virtual Academy.
The meeting will be held in Boise, May 18 and 19, at the Doubletree Club Hotel, 475 Park Center Boulevard, in the Doubletree Room. Reviews will be conducted in executive session. On Wednesday, May 19, at 1 p.m., the Board will discuss in open forum strategic planning, compensation of university presidents, and LEA status for the Idaho Virtual Academy.
Governor Kempthorne’s charter legislation directed the State Board of Education to identify public charter schools that could be identified as LEAs. The Idaho Virtual Academy has petitioned the State Board of Education for LEA status in order to receive federal funding for fiscal year 2004. A LEA is defined as a local administrative unit that exists primarily to operate schools.
