BOISE - Idahoans will have the opportunity to comment on proposed charter school rules during a statewide hearing on October 14, beginning at 7:30 p.m. MST/6:30 p.m. PST.
The rules, approved by the State Board of Education, govern the operation and creation of charter schools in Idaho. The rules were drafted after Governor Kempthorne signed new charter school legislation in April. Proposed rules include procedures for establishing charter schools, creating attendance areas, enrolling students, and revocations of existing charters and appeals. Hearings will be held simultaneously using video conferencing in Boise, Idaho Falls, Lewiston, Moscow, Pocatello, Post Falls and Twin Falls. The following are the locations of each hearing:
