BOISE - The State Board of Education is pleased to announce that Christine Ivie will serve as the Board’s Elementary/Secondary Academic Officer. She will advise the Board on K-12 policy issues.
“Christine has experience in many areas within our education system. She has been a director of a preschool, high school teacher in rural Idaho, high school football coach, school counselor, college instructor, and a principal,” said Gary Stivers, Executive Director for the State Board of Education. “She is dedicated to public education. I am confident that given her strong background, she will be a strong addition to our staff.”
Ivie is finishing her doctorate at Boise State University in curriculum and instruction. She has a master’s degree in counseling from Northwest Nazarene University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota. Most recently, she was the director of the Northwest Children’s Home Treasure Valley Education Centers. She worked with 11 local school districts to establish effective academic and day treatment programs for special education and at-risk students.
Ivie also served as the principal of Central Elementary School in Nampa, a counselor for Meridian High School, an undergraduate instructor at Boise State University and Northwest Nazarene University, a teacher and football coach in Camas County, Idaho and the director of Cornerstone Preschool in Boise.
