BOISE - The State Board of Education will meet Thursday, March 10 at Boise State University.
The State Board meeting will be held in the Lookout Room at the BSU Student Union Building, beginning at 8 a.m. The Board will hold an executive session Wednesday evening. A list of agenda highlights is included below:
Boise State University: The University is considering renovations and additions to Bronco Stadium including the construction of skyboxes. As part of the marketing campaign, BSU wants to advertise that alcohol could be served in the skyboxes. BSU’s efforts to market the potential skyboxes and the advertisement of alcohol service must be approved by the Board, as well as any stadium construction and skybox leasing.
The Board will also consider a proposal by BSU to construct a 72,000 square feet indoor athletic practice facility at a cost of $9.5 million. The facility would include a football field as well as areas to accommodate the marching band, dance team and cheerleaders. The Board is also set to approve amendments reducing liquidating damages in BSU head football coach Dan Hawkin’s contract.
University of Idaho: The University and the UI Foundation contracted with the Association of Governing Boards (AGB) to review and make recommendations regarding governance issues between the University and the Foundation. The UI will update the Board on the progress of the study.
Lewis-Clark State College: The Board will continue to discuss LCSC’s proposal to construct an additional residence hall through a private/public partnership. LCSC will also seek the Board’s approval to purchase a private residence near the campus.
Idaho State University: ISU is requesting Board approval for a multi-year contract for head football coach Larry Lewis.
Charter School Rules: The Board will consider adoption of temporary charter school rules.
