STATE BOARD ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

BOISE - More than 30 Idaho high school seniors are the recipients of the prestigious Robert E. Lee Category A Scholarship.

The $3,000 per year, renewable scholarship, is highly competitive and based on academic achievement. Students must use the scholarship to attend institutions of higher education in Idaho. To apply for the academic scholarship, students must be in the top 10 percent of their graduating class with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and an ACT score of 28 or above. The Robert E. Lee Scholarship is one of the most competitive awards in state; of the 124 qualified applicants, only 25 were selected.

“The students who receive the Robert E. Lee Scholarship are among Idaho’s best students,” said Rod Lewis, President of the State Board of Education. “Those who are awarded this scholarship are at the top of their class and have achieved outstanding academic records. We are fortunate to have these students continue their education at one of Idaho’s quality institutions.”

The State Board of Education also awards Robert E. Lee Promise Scholarships for professional technical students. Students must earn a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above and take the COMPASS test. Professional technical students receiving the scholarship must enroll in a professional technical program in Idaho. Students receiving the scholarship are:

More than 7,000 Idaho students will also receive the Robert E. Lee Promise Scholarship Category B. The $500 scholarship is automatically awarded to incoming freshmen attending an Idaho college or university. Students must have earned a 3.0 GPA in high school or scored more than 20 on the ACT to receive the award.
