Moscow - The Idaho State Board of Education renewed contracts for Idaho’s college and university presidents and increased the state-funded portion of their salaries by one to four percent.
Institution presidents receive one-year contracts, with their job performance formally reviewed annually by the Board of Education. The Board conducted performance reviews with the presidents in May and announced at the June Board meeting that all president contracts will be renewed.
“The State Board of Education is extremely pleased with our Presidents’ performances and find that each consistently meets or exceeds our expectations. We expect a great deal from our presidents. Not only do they lead their individual institutions, but serve as community and economic leaders for their region and the state,” said Laird Stone, vice-president of the State Board of Education. “Considering the magnitude of their responsibilities and the level of their job performance, these increases are certainly justified.”
The Board increased president salaries to the following: (previous salaries are in parenthesis):
· President of Eastern Idaho Technical College William Robertson $102,767 ($101,750)
· Boise State University President Dr. Bob Kustra $166,892 ($165,240)
· Idaho State University President Dr. Richard Bowen $166,892 ($165,240)
· Lewis-Clark State College President Dr. Dene Thomas $130,000 ($125,000)
·University of Idaho President Dr. Timothy White $166,892 ($162,000)
The university presidents also receive supplemental compensation from their university foundations. This supplemental compensation will be reviewed and approved by the Board at a future meeting.
