ISU PRESIDENTIAL SEARCH ADVISORY COMMITTEE NAMED

The Idaho State Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of 13 individuals to serve as members of the Idaho State University Presidential Search Advisory Committee.

The committee will be responsible for recruiting and screening applicants and making a recommendation of finalists to the State Board of Education. The State Board of Education will make the final decision as to which candidate will be the next president of ISU.

“Selecting our university and college presidents is one of the most significant responsibilities undertaken by the State Board,” said Lewis. “A university president is not only a leader on campus, but in the community. Because of the magnitude of the president’s position, it’s important to involve college and community leaders in the selection of the next president. The Board is confident that the advisory committee will find a dynamic president to lead ISU into the future.”

Members of the committee were selected from nominations and applications received by the Board and based upon their commitment to ISU and its unique role and mission in Idaho higher education. The backgrounds of the members represent the University’s major constituencies and interest groups.

“Each of the search committee members has a direct connection to ISU,” said State Board member Karen McGee, who serves as the Chair of the Search Advisory Committee. “I believe this energetic group of business owners, ISU alumni and faculty, as well as elected officials will work well as a team to find a vibrant leader for ISU. It’s an exciting time and we’ve got a lot of work ahead of us, but in the end I believe the Board, with the help of the committee, will find a president the Eastern Idaho region will support and respect.”
