STATE BOARD TO RELEASE ISAT RESULTS JULY 29

BOISE - The Idaho State Board of Education will release statewide Idaho Standards Achievement Tests (ISAT) scores July 29 at 11 a.m. MST during a press conference in Boise.

The press conference will be held at the State Board office, 650 West State Street, room 307. ISAT proficiency scores will be released for grades 3, 4, 7, 8, and 10 in reading, math, and language usage. The release will include three years of results in grades 4, 8, and 10. A question and answer session will follow the presentation of the results.

To help members of the media prepare for the press conference, a 20-page press packet will be available for review at 10:30 a.m. on the State Board of Education’s website, www.boardofed.idaho.gov. The packet will also be distributed to the media at the press conference. To listen to the press conference, call (612) 332-0636.

Every Idaho student in grades 2-10 takes the ISAT in the fall and spring of each school year. Each student’s scores in grades 3-8 and 10 are translated into four categories: below basic, basic, proficient and advanced. Below basic and basic categorization indicates the student has deficiencies in the subject tested. A proficient categorization indicates the student is performing on-grade level. The advanced category means the student has a comprehensive understanding of the subject that is above the grade level. The goal is for all students to score proficient or advanced. The proficiency rates are calculated using the results for every student in grade 3-8 and 10 who obtained a valid test score. Results released by the State Board are not Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), determinations as guided by “No Child Left Behind.”
