GOODING - A State Board of Education subcommittee charged with evaluating the Idaho School for the Deaf and Blind (ISDB) will host a town hall meeting, November 10 from 5 to 7 p.m.
This will allow the public to give its input concerning the future of the school located in Gooding. The town hall meeting will take place in the ISDB school cafeteria. The State Board of Education, who oversees the school, formed a subcommittee to review ISDB's delivery systems including the roles of local school districts in providing services to students. The committee includes a cross section of board members, experts in deaf and blind education, legislators and a parent of an ISDB student. The committee will make recommendations for improving the education of deaf and blind students to the State Board of Education.
After the town hall meeting, the committee will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. at the school.
"The committee has thoughtfully considered and we have listened too the views expressed during meetings on the future of deaf and blind education in Idaho . We hope to hear more by holding a meeting at the school," said Laird Stone, Vice President of the State Board of Education and chair of the ISDB subcommittee.
