MOSCOW - The State Board of Education will set student tuition/fees for Idaho's colleges and universities at its meeting April 20 and 21 in Moscow.
The meeting will be held at the University of Idaho's Commons Building in the Whitewater/Clearwater Room. The meeting Thursday will begin with an executive session at 8 a.m.
The following tuition increases are being proposed: Boise State University, 8.73 percent; Idaho State University, 7 percent; University of Idaho, 9.48 percent; Lewis-Clark State College, 6 percent; and Eastern Idaho Technical College, 3 percent. College of Southern Idaho and North Idaho College student tuition rates are set by each institution's board of trustees. Prior to coming to the Board, college and university administration conduct public hearings and work with student leaders to determine the proposed student tuition rate.

Teacher of the Year: The State Board of Education will hear from Mick Sharkey, Idaho's Teacher of the Year. Sharkey is a science teacher from Parma High School.
Boise State University: The University is requesting a $1 million remodel to Chaffee Hall. The residence hall will get new carpet, fresh paint, new light fixtures, and remodeling of study lounges and the main lounge. The Board will also review BSU head football coach Chris Petersen's contract.
University of Idaho: The University will update the Board on the process of reinstating its College or Art and Architecture and ask the Board to officially establish the college.
Officer Election: Board members will elect president, vice-president and secretary positions along with committee assignments. Rod Lewis served as the President of the Board for the last two years along with Laird Stone who acted as vice-president and Milford Terrell who was secretary.
