BOISE— The Idaho State Board of Education today announced that the deadline for applicants for the trustee positions for the College of Western Idaho is Thursday, June 7, 2007.
Those interested parties should submit a copy of their resume and a cover letter to the Board office no later than 5pm on June 7, 2007. To be eligible for consideration, a person must be a full time resident of the community college district, which is comprised of Ada and Canyon Counties.
"We’re looking for people who can demonstrate a genuine interest and commitment to community and education," said Board President Milford Terrell. "This is an exciting time in our state’s history. To be involved with such a grand venture, it will take a significant amount of a person’s time and energy, so we want to make sure we have the best qualified and committed people to fill this board."
Persons appointed by the Idaho State Board of Education to serve as trustees of the College of Western Idaho will do so until the "first general election", according to Idaho Code. The first general election is November 2008. Trustees at that point will have the option of running for election for their seat. The length of term of each trustee up for election will be staggered at that point so as to minimize the possibility of a complete board turnover.
