STATE BOARD HEARS MEDICAL EDUCATION STUDY, APPROVES SEVERAL NEW PROJECTS

POCATELLO— The Idaho State Board of Education heard a complete report of the Medical Education Study as part of its regularly scheduled December meeting today. Representatives from MGT Inc, the company who prepared the report, outlined the procedures and methodology along with its findings. Board President Milford Terrell said, “This report is an excellent compilation and will help us get started. But it’s important to remember that this is going to be a very long process.” The Board will deliver the report to the Idaho Legislature as requested. The Board also approved a number of projects for Idaho’s colleges and universities. Boise State asked for and was authorized to move forward with an aquatics complex expansion as well as a new turf for Bronco Stadium. The University of Idaho presented two projects related to improvements at the Kibbie Dome. The Board approved both requests which deal with safety improvements and amenities in the building.

Two members of the Board of the Idaho Historical Society were appointed. Judy Meyer of Coeur d’Alene was reappointed to another 6 year term in District 1, Hope Ann Benedict of Blackfoot was appointed to District 7. The Idaho Historical Society is one of thirteen agencies that are under the auspices of the Idaho State Board of Education.

The State Board of Education is next scheduled to meet on January 14, 2008 in Boise.
