Bower, who was most recently the Dean of Academic Affairs at Lincoln College, brings a deep, rich educational background to the position. “We are really pleased with what Dr. Bower brings to Idaho and the Board,” said Board President Milford Terrell. “I’m confident she will help guide our colleges and universities, helping them meet the challenges of an ever changing educational environment,” Terrell said.
Dr. Bower has served in a number of academic leadership positions including: Vice President of the College of Arts & Sciences in the University System of Georgia, Dean of the Center for Continuing Education at William Patterson University in New Jersey, Chief Academic Officer for the University of Minnesota, and Vice President of Academic Affairs for the State University of New York.
“I’m thrilled for the opportunity,” said Dr. Bower. “Idaho has so much to offer and I am anxious to get started with the work at hand.”
Bower intends to participate in the State Board meeting in October and will start full-time shortly thereafter.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Idaho State Board of Education is set for October 9-10, 2008 in Lewiston at Lewis Clark State College.
