(Moscow). The Idaho State Board of Education has completed its work on the April 16-17, 2009 agenda. Among the items acted upon by the Board:

The Board also heard a presentation on proposed program closures at the University of Idaho. All of the proposed closures only require approval of the Board’s executive director as they do not exceed a fiscal impact to the university in excess of $250,000 each. Program closures or modifications that exceed a fiscal impact of $250,000 must have Board approval. The presentation was an information item only and did seek board action.
Don Soltman of Coeur d’Alene was welcomed as the newest member of the State Board. Mr. Soltman was appointed by Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter in March and was confirmed unanimously by the Idaho Senate on April 10, 2009.
The Board’s next regularly scheduled meeting is set for June 18-19, 2009 on the campus of North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene. The Board will hold its annual retreat and presidential evaluations meeting in Boise on May 21-22, 2009.
