Public Safety Officer Dependent Scholarship

Dependents of full-time Idaho public safety officers employed in Idaho and who were killed or disabled in the line of duty are eligible to attend an Idaho postsecondary institution with a full waiver of fees. The scholarship also covers the costs of books, equipment and supplies, up to $500 per semester. In addition, on-campus housing and a campus meal plan are provided to the dependents.

Eligibility

For a child of a public safety officer, the student must:

  • Be an Idaho resident
  • Be a graduate from an Idaho high school or its equivalent (GED from Idaho)
  • Enroll as a student in an academic* or professional-technical program* at North Idaho College, Lewis-Clark State College, College of Southern Idaho, Eastern Idaho Technical College, University of Idaho, Boise State University, Idaho State University, Brigham Young University-Idaho, Northwest Nazarene University, The College of Idaho, or College of Western Idaho
  • Be a child already born, or born after a public safety officer is killed or becomes disabled

For a spouse of a public safety officer, the student must:

  • Be an Idaho resident
  • Enroll as a student in an academic* or professional-technical program* at North Idaho College, Lewis-Clark State College, College of Southern Idaho, Eastern Idaho Technical College, University of Idaho, Boise State University, Idaho State University, Brigham Young University-Idaho, Northwest Nazarene University, The College of Idaho, or College of Western Idaho
  • Be or have been married to a public safety officer at the time he/she is killed or becomes disabled
    • In the situation where a public safety officer becomes disabled, the student must be currently married to the public safety officer
