Robert C. Byrd Scholarship

This scholarship is a federally funded program awarded on the basis of merit. Its availability is contingent upon continued funding.

Amount of Award: Up to $1,500 per year, renewable for up to four years.

Robert C. Byrd Scholarship Eligibility

To Qualify for this award, you must:

  • Be a resident of Idaho.
  • Be a graduating senior of an accredited Idaho high school or have received the recognized equivalent of a high school diploma.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or national of the United States or have evidence from the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service that the applicant is in the United States for other than a temporary purpose.
  • Apply or be accepted to for enrollment at an institution of higher education.
  • Be able to certify that the applicant is not ineligible to receive assistance as a result of default on a Federal student loan or other obligation.
  • File with the school that he or she plans to attend, a Statement of Selective Service Registration Status. A student attending a military academy is ineligible to receive a Byrd scholarship.
  • Enroll as a full-time student in an eligible public or private postsecondary educational institution.
  • Attend the first semester of college following high school graduation.
