Alternate Routes to Certification

The grant will fund stipends for individuals who participate in an alternative route certification program. All recipients must teach in a “high-need” district for at least three years to be eligible for the stipend. Eligible individuals who are certified through an Idaho college or university alternative program will receive up to a $5,000 stipend. Candidates who qualify for the Board-approved computer-based alternative route can receive up to $2,000. “High-need” is defined as districts with at least a 20 percent poverty rate and have at least 2.5 percent of its instructors teaching outside of their field of expertise.

Partners on the grant include: College of Idaho, Boise State University, Lewis-Clark State College, Idaho State University, Northwest Nazarene University, University of Idaho.
